We're excited to host author Chevahn Brown for a character-driven multi-week! If you loved her character deep dive in January, this is a perfect next class for you!

In this immersive course, writers will go beyond archetypes and learn to design characters from the inside out. Expanding on Chevahn Brown’s acclaimed Character Deep Dive session, this multi-week experience draws from her original Authentic Character method to explore the psychological, emotional, and behavioral architecture that makes fictional people feel alive.

Through guided exercises in dialogue, desire, fear, and contradiction, participants will uncover their characters’ voices, quirks, and inner belief systems—the invisible forces that drive every choice on the page. Writers will practice transforming abstract traits into tangible behavior, designing backstory that breathes, and crafting moments that reveal the soul beneath the story.

By the end of the course, students will leave with a fully realized cast of characters—and the tools to design any new one with precision, empathy, and originality.

Chevahn Brown is an author, educator, and narrative consultant known for her work in serial drama, character psychology, and vertical storytelling. A traditionally published author with Penguin Random House (5-Minute Story Prompts for Kids, 2025), she brings the same sharp eye for character and structure to classrooms, workshops, and writers’ rooms, where she helps creators shape authentic, resonant narratives. Her own fiction spans sci-fi, fantasy, and YA — immersive worlds of alternate realities, moral paradoxes, and human emotion at the edge of possibility. A visionary for youth and YA storytelling, Chevahn champions imagination and human creativity in an AI-driven age — leveraging technology not to replace, but to empower the art of story.

This is a 4-session multi-week class meeting on Sundays, Februrary 15th & 22nd and March 8th & 22nd. All classes will be live on Zoom and participants have access to all class recordings for 3 months after class is complete.

Please note: Your Zoom URLs and recording links will be sent to the email address you use to purchase the class.
