What is poetry? What makes a poem a poem? Is poetry bound to the page, or does it exist elsewhere, in other forms? Join us in exploring the answers to these questions and more in this exploded, spacious, experimental class on all things poetry. We'll explore the technical definitions of poetry as well as the mechanics involved in writing it (as per traditional academia), as well as the looser, more nebulous aspects of creativity and the craft (as per inhabiting a human body on Earth). We will read and generate poems during this class, in addition to reading the works of poets on the subject of poetry with curiosity and playfulness. No experience required/recommended.
