What's the shape of a horror story?
While the slasher film has a classic "shape" we could all recite by heart, horror today can be so much…weirder. Modern horror writers like Stephen Graham Jones, Kelly Link, and Mariana Enriquez have approached the genre with an eye towards new, surprising forms–and so can you! In this class, we'll discuss some fundamentals of story structure, and then how to explode them specifically within the context of horror and dark fantasy.
Perfect for fans of the genre, folks just dipping their toes in the scary stuff, or anyone interested in alternative views of "story structure." Expect to leave with at least the start (and maybe the middle) of a new scary tale!
