Whether you’re a beginner writer or venturing into a new creative genre, this course will help you to understand the personal essay form, its conventions and how to get writing. We will brainstorm possible essay topics and, amid all the stories from your life, to write about the one that’s calling you now. The course also covers editing and how to get to the next best draft of your work.

Áine Greaney is an Irish-born author living in Massachusetts. Her nonfiction, fiction and poetry have been published in various outlets, including “The Boston Globe Magazine,” “The New York Times,” “Creative Nonfiction,” “Another Chicago Magazine,” “Pulse: Stories from the Heart of Medicine,” “KevinMD,” “The Journal of Expressive Writing” and many others. She’s also the author of 5 books. As a trained teacher and certified wellness-writing instructor (Duke University), she has designed and delivered workshops and retreats in various community, academic and healthcare settings. Her greatest joy is to support other writers as we all work toward that next step in telling our stories. 

 

This class is held over Zoom. Links for access are sent to the email address used to purchase the class. This class will be recorded and ticket holders will have access to the recording for 3 months.
